Are you an Early Career Researcher in MMS? We want to hear from you!

Being an Early Career Researcher (ECR) is a challenging time for many, with the competing demands of conducting your research, applying for grants and supervising students while faced with job insecurity. The Melbourne Medical School (MMS) is committed to supporting Early Career Researchers and is establishing the MMS ECR Consultation Group to ensure the ECR experience is seen and heard.

The group will meet monthly via Zoom, with the occasional face-to-face activity. Feeding into the MMS Research and Research Training Committee, the group will have a say on MMS activities related to ECR research and identify issues they would like to raise within MMS.

Following the first meeting in February 2022, the group are considering the performance relative to opportunity guides for academic promotion and grant applications. They will also look at how we can provide more opportunities for ECRs to network with other ECRs and with industry to provide the necessary linkages for Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) ECR grant proposals and other research opportunities.

If you are an ECR in an MMS Department and would like to be part of the discussion, we would love to hear from you.
