Kristy Gardner awarded Indigenous Research Training Support

Kamilaroi woman Kristy Gardner has been awarded an MDHS 2022 Indigenous Research Training Support Scholarship. This scholarship, worth up to $10,000, supports Indigenous postgraduate research students enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.

Kristy is enrolled within the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Doherty Institute. She is supervised by two people within the Department of Infectious Diseases, Dr Simon Graham (primary) and Dr Hasthi Dissanayake, and also Associate Professor Joanne Bryant at UNSW Sydney.

The scholarship will support Kristy as she continues her studies into how the sexual health workforce perceives Aboriginal young people as clients, how Aboriginal young people perceive sexual health services, and the impact on service delivery in an urban area.
