Outcomes of the Innovation Acceleration Program announced

Congratulations to recipients of funding and support from the Innovation Acceleration Program, a joint investment between the University of Melbourne and Royal Melbourne Hospital which connects staff developing innovative ideas to expertise, skills and funding.

The Innovation Acceleration Program supports innovation and entrepreneurship between the healthcare sector and researchers.

Congratulations to recipients of funding and support from the Innovation Acceleration Program, a joint investment between the University of Melbourne and Royal Melbourne Hospital which connects staff developing innovative ideas to expertise, skills, and funding.

The initial IAP received a co-investment of $50,000 from both UoM and RMH which brought the total seed-funding pool for innovative projects to $100,000. In 2022, there was increased funding to $100,000 from each partner, bringing the collective funding pool to $200K. The 2022 IAP has awarded funding to two research projects from the Melbourne Medical School:

Dr Lyn-li Lim (Infectious Diseases) and Associate Professor Daniel Capurro (Engineering and IT)
IT solution: Hospital Acquired SAB Infection monitoring

Dr Felix Ng (Medicine) and Dr Kate Davey (Engineering and IT)
Stroke diagnostic: AI-based visualisation of micro-occlusions
