2023 SexRurality Conference
The Centre for Excellence in Rural Sexual Health (CERSH) held its biannual conference, SexRurality 2023, in Creswick. It was a resounding success with 150 people in attendance, including students and professionals from across many disciplines.
The conference enabled students and professionals to share knowledge and build new networks.
Presentations highlighted regional and rural sexual health challenges and shone a spotlight on innovative projects and solutions. All participants shared knowledge and built new or consolidated established networks – a priority for the rural workforce.
Across two days, participants enjoyed plenary speakers covering topics from disability to inclusion, emerging technologies and Indigenous initiatives, as well as four streams where the rural workforce showcased their work. Participants were also treated to a fantastic performance by the ILBIJERRI theatre company.
At the conclusion of the conference, it was clear that a great time was had by everyone in attendance. With contact details exchanged and new friendships made, it is easy to say that the passion for rural and regional sexual health post-COVID is alive and booming.
