Doctor of Medicine (Rural Pathway) applications open for 2024 intake

Regional and rural medical students from across Victoria and broader Australia can live, work and study to become a doctor entirely in regional Victoria through the Doctor of Medicine (Rural Pathway). The application period for the 2024 intake opened throughout the month of May, accompanied by a local marketing campaign aimed at attracting students from the region. The online information session held this year saw a 30 per cent increase in registrations compared to the previous year.

To further promote the pathway into rural medicine at the University of Melbourne, the Department of Rural Health and the Student Recruitment team collaborated with Careers Day Out in Shepparton. This event enabled current medical students to connect with the local high school students, providing valuable insights into the journey towards a career in rural medicine.
