Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health success at Northern Health Research Week

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health was well represented during Northern Health Research Week.

Associate Professor Lisa Hui showcased the development of the Reproductive Health Biobank, and the partnership between Northern Centre for Health Education Research (NCHER) and the University of Melbourne.

Dr Ishara Atukorala and Dr Natasha de Alwis presented their work in the best abstracts session. At the end of a great medley of research presentations, Natasha won third place for best oral presentations, while Ishara won the first-ever Peter Brooks Research Award (first place) for her presentation First trimester placental exposure to novel CMV antiviral drugs: a toxicity study.

Last but not least, research midwife Eleanor Johnson presented her remarkable work in abortion care, gaining many accolades.

Northern Health Research Week was held at the Northern Centre for Health Education Research from Monday 23 October to Friday 27 October. The event brings together clinicians, researchers and academics to allow them to shine a spotlight on their remarkable work.
