Staff Profile - Simone Gleeson

Simone Gleeson is Manager of the Safer Families Centre.

Simone Gleeson

Simone started in the Department of General Practice in 2017 managing a five-year Centre of Research Excellence to promote safer families, led by Kelsey Hegarty. The Centre built evidence for system change to strengthen the health sector as a crucial gateway to care, recovery and healing for women and children experiencing domestic violence.

Working with Kelsey, Simone has also led a four-year Department of Health and Aged Care grant to develop a national primary care family violence training program (The Readiness Program). As part of this, intensive training has been delivered to over 800 primary care staff across 100 sites around Australia, with over 1,500 enrolments received to domestic violence e-learning modules on the University's mobile learning platform.

Simone's current focus is working to expand philanthropic opportunities for the team's innovative research on psychological violence and coercive control.

In her professional role, Simone manages multiple projects and works to build relationships, develop innovative programs, improve communications, oversee team administration, and seek funding opportunities.
