Centre of Research Excellence in Malaria launched

Launch of Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Malaria Elimination (ACREME)
On 19 February 2018, the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity hosted the launch of the newly established, NHMRC-supported, Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Malaria Elimination (ACREME). The Centre brings together many of Australia’s leading malaria researchers, including Melbourne University’s Professor Stephen Rogerson, Associate Professor Julie Simpson, and Associate Professor James McCaw. The goal of ACREME is to accelerate malaria elimination in the Asia Pacific region, by undertaking collaborative clinical research within the three key themes of surveillance, diagnostics, and treatment. ACREME will also focus on capacity building and training for malaria researchers within Australia and across our region.
