Enabling EDIE© – VR experience at the Northern Clinical School

This month, medical students from the University of Melbourne participated in the Enabling EDIE^© workshop run by Dementia Australia.

While wearing 3D headsets, students were immersed in the world of an elderly man with dementia and encouraged to think, feel and see what it may be like to live with the disease.

Students gained important insights into the impact of effective communication when supporting people living with dementia and reflected on what constitutes a dementia-friendly environment.

The VR experience was an engaging way to increase their knowledge of dementia and develop empathy for people living with dementia and their carers.
