PC4 Scientific Symposium 2018

The Primary Care Collaborative Cancer Clinical Trials Group (PC4) held their fifth Scientific Symposium in Sydney on May 25.

The Scientific Symposium emphasised PC4’s objectives of advancing collaboration and nurturing new primary care research.

Professor David Weller from the University of Edinburgh, opened with an insightful presentation on the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership.

Another highlight of the day included the final panel discussion on overdiagnosis in primary care with Sanchia Aranda, CEO of Cancer Council Australia, Associate Professor Anne Cust, Professor Kirsten McCaffery, PC4’s Director, Professor Jon Emery and consumer Geoff Pritchard.

The winner of the best oral presentation was Cancer Council Victoria’s Rebecca Bergin.

Sibel Saya, a PhD student at the University of Melbourne, won best poster for her project: Discrimination of the Australian Population into Colorectal Cancer Screening Categories Using Risk Prediction Models.
