2025 Dame Kate Campbell Fellowships announced

The Melbourne Medical School is delighted to congratulate our next cohort of Dame Kate Campbell Fellows.

This year, five Melbourne Medical School fellows have been appointed across various academic levels, recognising their incredible contributions to the Faculty and beyond through outstanding research and engagement with the broader community.

Please join us in congratulating our new Dame Kate Campbell Fellows:

Level C

  • Dr David Price, Department of Infectious Diseases, Melbourne Medical School
  • Dr Clare Whitehead, Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health, Melbourne Medical School

Level D

  • Associate Professor Yasmin Jayasinghe, Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health, Melbourne Medical School
  • Associate Professor Louise Owen, Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health, Melbourne Medical School

Level E

  • Professor Alice Pebay, Department of Surgery (Melbourne Medical School) and Department of Anatomy and Physiology (School of Biomedical Sciences)

The fellowships are named after pioneering Australian physician and paediatrician Dame Kate Campbell. Dr Campbell obtained her MD from the University of Melbourne in 1922 and worked at the Royal Melbourne and Royal Children’s Hospitals. Her observations were instrumental in advancing care for neonatal and paediatric patients, and in 1951, she published research proving a link between excess therapeutic oxygen in humidicribs and newborn blindness.

Congratulations to our new Dame Kate Campbell Fellows on this wonderful achievement.
