Melbourne Medical School researchers announced Fellows of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences

Researchers from the Melbourne Medical School have been elected as Fellows of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (AAHMS) in recognition of their outstanding achievements and exceptional contributions to the health and medical sciences in Australia.

Professor Sharon Goldfeld AM, Department of Paediatrics and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, for her innovative program of work focused on sustainable and policy-relevant solutions that can eliminate inequities for Australia’s children.

Professor Paul James, Department of Medicine – Royal Melbourne Hospital, for his initiatives and international collaborations that have brought about significant changes in clinical practice and policy in heritable cancer investigation, diagnosis and management.

Professor Sarath Ranganathan, Head of the Melbourne Medical School and Group Leader at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, for his research that has led to a paradigm shift in the understanding and treatment of cystic fibrosis.

Professor Stephen Tong, Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health and Mercy Hospital for Women, for his work developing new diagnostics and therapeutics to tackle life-endangering pregnancy conditions, including preeclampsia, ectopic pregnancy and stillbirth.
