Professor Jason Trubiano appointed Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases

The Melbourne Medical School is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Jason Trubiano as Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, effective Thursday 19 June 2025.

Having served as the Deputy Head of the Department since 2023, Jason brings a wealth of experience and leadership to this role.

Jason will continue his work as the Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology at Austin Health. In addition to his hospital leadership, Jason leads a large collaborative research group at the University of Melbourne and Austin Health, co-leads the Drug Hypersensitivity Stream for the National Allergy Centre for Excellence, and is Head of the Clinical Trials Support Utility at the Doherty Institute.

Jason will continue to be part of the leadership team at the Doherty Institute to ensure the seamless integration of the Department of Infectious Diseases and strengthen our capabilities in translational, clinical and public health research.

The Melbourne Medical School looks forward to Jason’s ongoing commitment to the Department, and fostering a culture of excellence in research, teaching and community engagement.
