Future Health Today: A pragmatic 12-month cluster randomised controlled trial of quality improvement activities in general practice compared to active control
Project Details

The aim of the FHT trial is to implement and evaluate a quality improvement (QI) program in general practice, consisting of a new technology platform (Future Health Today (FHT), with audit, recall, clinical decision support and monitoring of QI activity capability) and ECHO educational series.
Patron ID: PAT037
Project Lead:
A/Prof Jo-Anne Manski-Nankervis
Future Health Today (FHT) uses a novel technology to unlock information held within electronic medical record systems of general practice to identify patients at risk of a chronic disease, or with a chronic disease who may benefit from further investigation or optimisation of management. It provides guidance to prevent or reduce disease progression and development of complications, in accordance with endorsed clinical guidelines.
We are conducting a cluster randomised controlled trial of FHT and ECHO modules (an educational series conducted using zoom platform) to determine if these result in (1) optimised use of pharmacological therapies to reduce cardiovascular risk in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and (2) investigation of people at increased risk of cancer. This trial will be evaluated using Patron data.
