PELICAN: Primary care and gEnomic data LInkage for CANcer research
Project Details

The overarching aim of this research is to create a linked dataset containing patient genomic, primary care and cancer registry data to enable development and evaluation of personalised cancer risk prediction tools incorporating genetic information for use in patients presenting with symptoms of possible cancer to primary care.
Patron ID: PAT083
Project Lead:
We aim to create a linked dataset combining genomic and Victorian cancer registry data from patients recruited in the Melbourne Collaborative Cohort Study (MCCS) to primary care data from Patron. This novel dataset will enable evaluation of the potential added predictive value of genomic information from polygenic risk scores (PRS), which estimate an individual’s underlying predisposition for cancer, for detection of cancer in symptomatic patients presenting to primary care.
