On behalf of the MDHS ECA Network and the MMS EMCA Advisory Committee, we are pleased to invite you to the upcoming 2025 EMCA Week from 27 to 31 October.
This year's theme is:
Being an academic, what do we need?
The EMCA week will offer online seminars on the following topics:
- Series #1: How to Develop Academic Leadership Skills
- Series #2: Building Collaborative Networks
- Series #3: How to Initiate and Maintain an Effective Mentorship
- Series #4: Integrating Education in Academia and Clinics
The EMCA week will also bring an exciting opportunity to network with an in-person "Brainstorm and Brew" on 28 October 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. EMCAs will have a chance to share their experiences, showcase their research capabilities, and discuss potential collaboration opportunities.
Travel Awards
ECAN is sponsoring five travel awards of $1000 each for EMCA Week attendees. To be eligible you must be an EMCA in the Faculty of MDHS and you must attend at least three of the four online seminars and both in person sessions on Tuesday 28 October. All eligible attendees will go into a random draw and winners will be announced after EMCA Week.

How to Develop Academic Leadership Skills

Mental Health and Wellbeing
In this session, we’ll explore stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue, and how they can show up in our everyday lives. We’ll reflect on what it looks like for each of us when things aren’t going so well, and share practical ways to respond. You’ll also create a personalised self-care plan to strengthen your wellbeing, while recognising the importance of community-care and the role we all play in supporting one another.
