Welcome to the Department of Clinical Pathology

The Department of Clinical Pathology specialises in cancer research, graduate teaching, and engagement in the clinical discipline of pathology. It collaborates across the University of Melbourne and health sectors to improve cancer outcomes and treatment strategies for patients. Our research aims to identify and target tumour-specific molecular defects and to characterise selective biomarkers for advanced diagnostics. Our facilities include labs for cancer cell biology, DNA biobanking, next-generation sequencing, and patient-derived organoid testing. The department teaches into the Doctor of Medicine program and runs teaching subjects and research projects for Honours, Masters, and PhD students.
