Success at the 2025 ANZICS and ANZCA ASMs

The recent ANZCIS  and ANZCA ASMs  highlighted some of the outstanding work done by members of our department.

Associate Professor Kimberley Haines won the Inaugural Best Allied Health Paper for the Australian Critical Care Journal 2024-2025 for her paper: In-person peer support for critical care survivors: The ICU REcovery Solutions cO-Led through surVivor Engagement (ICURESOLVE) pilot randomised controlled trial.

Nina Leggett won Best Allied Health Poster presentation at the ANZICS ASM on her PhD study: Digital Health Interventions to Improve Recovery for ICU Survivors: A Systematic Review.

Dr Yasmine Ali Abdelhamid was awarded best medical paper for 'Enteral glycine supplementation increases plasma and muscle glycine concentrations and may attenuate muscle loss in critical illness.'

Dr Debra Leung was awarded the prestigious Gilbert Brown Prize for her paper ‘Utilising the nominal group technique to develop clinical practice guidance for shared decision-making in surgery’.

The prize is awarded to the fellow judged to make the best contribution to the free research paper session named the Gilbert Brown Prize Session at the ANZCA ASM. We are thrilled to report that 7 of the past 10 awardees have been members of our department.

ANZCIS and ANZCA ASM
