Bringing mental health into focus in diabetes care

The Mental health IN Diabetes – Monitoring And Pathways (MIND-MAP) Study is Australia’s largest national longitudinal study examining emotional wellbeing among people with diabetes.

Led by the Australian Centre for Behavioural Research in Diabetes (a partnership between Deakin University and Diabetes Victoria) and supported by the NHMRC, the MIND-MAP Study will follow over 7,900 adults with diabetes over three years to track emotional wellbeing, identify risk and resilience factors, and inform tailored support pathways.

GPs play a critical role in recognising and addressing the emotional impacts of diabetes. MIND-MAP will generate practical insights to support routine care, strengthen early intervention, and improve person-centred support.

How you can help
We invite you to share MIND-MAP with eligible patients and encourage participation. The survey is brief, confidential and can be completed online.

*MIND-MAP is open to adults with T1D, T2D, MODY, LADA, family members and carers (excluding gestational diabetes). This study is approved by Deakin University Human Research Ethics Committee (2024/HE000401).
