Share your views on medicinal cannabis use in children and young people

Medicinal cannabis prescribing has expanded rapidly across Australia with increased use among children and young people aged ≤25 years. Many important questions remain to be answered about the evidence, safety, monitoring and clinical care of this population.

Following the presentation of our medicinal cannabis research to GPs from around the world at the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) Europe 2026 conference in Paris, we are now inviting Australian GPs and GP registrars—both prescribers and non-prescribers—to share their perspectives.

GP perspectives are critically important. GPs play a central role in the ongoing care of children and young people, including when medicinal cannabis is prescribed outside their usual general practice. Understanding the experiences and perspectives of GPs across Australia—including those who do not prescribe medicinal cannabis—is essential to identifying the challenges they encounter and the support they need in this rapidly changing area of care.

Our anonymous online survey only takes seven minutes and explores GPs’ experiences, perspectives and clinical decision-making. Survey findings will help inform future research, clinical guidance, professional education and policy.
