2024 GP Supervisor Networking Event

The Annual Education and Networking event for GPs supervising medical students in general practice was held on Saturday 3rd February.

With over 80 participants in attendance, the event truly exceeded expectations and served as a testament to the dedication and passion within our community. We have approximately 400 first-year medical students starting the Doctor of Medicine course in 2024, and therefore the need for GP supervisors has never been more critical.

During our event, we delved into several key topics that are pivotal to enhancing the effectiveness of our placement program and supporting the professional development of GP supervisors. One highlight was the opening Q&A session on "Integrating research into clinical practice," which explored how two GPs successfully navigated this journey. Their experiences shed light on the practical application of research in everyday clinical settings, inspiring attendees to consider how they can also be involved in primary care research.

We look forward to building on this success in the future and continuing to support and empower GPs in their vital role of supervising medical students in general practice.
