Fourteen students from the Master of Nursing Science program recently graduated as registered nurses with an additional nurse immuniser qualification.  A pilot program between the Department of General Practice and Primary Care and the Department of Nursing provided these students with the opportunity to enrol in the Nurse Immuniser program of study as their final elective.

The nurses also completed a two-week placement in primary care, where they had the opportunity to put their injection skills to the test and get a taste of working in general practice.

“I really enjoyed my last placement at Doctors on Nicholson.  My buddy nurse here is amazing, and Dr Anneliese is remarkably supportive. I genuinely appreciate this opportunity,” said Mia Phan (pictured).

Feedback from all students and practices was extremely positive, leaving both departments with the hope that some of the nurses will consider a nursing career in general practice.
