Academic GP Registrars

The Academic Registrar program supports general practice registrars learn academic skills through individualised learning plans supervised by senior primary care academic leaders. Below is a list of this year's Academic Registrars, along with an overview of their research projects.

Emily Thrower

  • Research: Emily will be working with Professor Meredith Temple-Smith and Associate Professor Ruth McNair. Her project is titled: Care after Pregnancy Loss: How Can LGBTIQA+ people be Better Supported?
  • Teaching: Emily will be assisting the first-year Medical Students and ‘Chat with a GP Registrar’ sessions.
  • Fun fact: In her spare time, Emily enjoys rock climbing, yoga and spending time with her baby and partner.

Romy Mondschein

Romy is a second year GP registrar who has worked in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Victoria in a variety of medical and surgical specialties prior to commencing GP training.

  • Research: Romy will be working with Kelsey and Fiona in the Safer Families Team, gaining insight into the experiences of older women in rural areas who experience IPV.
  • Teaching: Romy will be assisting with the MD3 Cancer workshops, IPV Workshops and GP Education IPV Workshops
  • Fun fact: Romy loves playing squash, riding her bike and hanging out with her cat, Alvin.
