New staff members
This month, we welcome two new staff members to the Department, Dr Marita Long and Associate Professor Justin Tse.
Dr Marita Long, Lecturer in Primary Care
Dr Marita Long is a Victorian based GP working across clinical practice, medical education and research. Marita joins the Department as a Lecturer in primary care, with a strong interest in women’s health. She is a member of the Australian Society of Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynaecology Committee, the WIGP RACGP committee and is the current Vic/Tas representative on the Board of the Australasian Menopause Society.
Marita has developed and delivered many educational workshops both face-to-face and online and is passionate about upskilling GPs to deliver the best possible evidence-based care to patients. Especially women, who so often feel their voices aren’t heard.
An Honorary Medical Advisor for Dementia Australia, Marita is actively engaged in numerous dementia projects as well as co-hosting the podcast “Dementia in Practice”. She was also featured in a recent article about dementia in Medicine Today.
Since moving back to Victoria five years ago, Marita and her husband have started regenerating 80 acres of farmland in Yan Yean. Marita’s newfound love, apart from her gorgeous grandchildren, is tending to her three beautiful chickens!
