Winner of the annual Dr Leon Carp Award announced

The Department is pleased to announce Dr Fang Wang as the winner of the 2024 Dr Leon Carp Award. Dr Wang is a GP at Box Hill Super Clinic, where he also serves as a clinical supervisor for an RACGP Registrar and for University of Melbourne students undertaking clinical placements.

Dr Wang’s research aims to improve the screening and management of osteoporosis in general practice. His project will initially focus on a systematic review of osteoporosis guidelines across various jurisdictions including Australia, Canada, UK and USA. He is working closely with Academic Researchers Dr Andrew Donald and Dr Caroline McBride, both of whom have extensive experience from other projects closely aligned to Dr Wang’s areas of interest.

Dr Wang has also expressed a strong interest in pursuing a PhD at The University of Melbourne following his year of research.
