Bacterial vaginosis (BV) has long evaded effective treatment with more than half affected women, and other people with vaginas, experiencing recurrence after individual treatment leading to potentially life-changing sexual and reproductive health outcomes.
Researchers at Melbourne Sexual Health Centre have just published the results of the first successful randomised controlled trial of concurrent treatment for male partners of people with BV. Interviews with men and women involved in the trial, conducted by DGPPC research fellow Dr Alicia King, revealed key factors likely to influence the impact of this advancement.
