New Domestic and Family Violence e-learning modules available

The Safer Families Centre has recently launched two new e-learning modules providing evidence-based knowledge and practical skills to engage early with LGBTQA+ people and women with a minority ethnic/racial background who are experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV).

These modules will help to address the learning needs around these groups and build the capacity of GPs and others working in primary care to support patients with experiences of domestic and family violence in a sensitive, respectful and culturally responsive way.

Recognising and responding to LGBTQA+ people impacted by DFV

The Recognising and responding to LGBTQA+ people impacted by DFV module supports primary care providers to identify and respond to LGBTQA+ people who are impacted by DFV and to provide safe, empathic and effective care. Although LGBTQA+ people experience DFV at a rate equal to or greater than the general Australian population, LGBTQA+ survivors of DFV are less likely to seek help and/or to be linked with appropriate supports. GPs are in a unique position to address this gap.

This module has been accredited for 1 hr EA and 0.5 hrs RP CPD

Recognising and responding to DFSV experienced by ethnic/racial minority women

In the Recognising and responding to DFSV experienced by ethnic/racial minority women module, primary care providers will build their understanding of the context and impact of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) for women of minority ethnic and racial backgrounds. You will develop your understanding of the skills, self-awareness and whole of practice collaboration required to support these patients and to provide a culturally safe and help-seeking primary care environment for women from minority ethnic and racial backgrounds experiencing DFSV.

This module has been accredited for 1.5 hrs EA CPD
