DGPPC RS4 Student Ken Luong wins award at MDSC 2025

MD Discovery 4: Research Scholar student, Ken Luong, has won the Award for Community, Population and Global Health at this year’s University of Melbourne MD Student Conference held on June 23 – 26 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Research Scholar program is a semester-long, supervised, research placement located within the University, teaching hospitals, associated research institutes and other clinical settings. Students’ collect, analyse and interpret data on their chosen subject and present their findings in the form of a journal article-style report, conference poster and oral presentation.
Ken’s research project explored how first- and second-generation Vietnamese-Australians experienced acculturation, specifically the relationship between acculturation and intergenerational conflict and mental health.
Ken was supervised by A/Prof Phyllis Lau, Dr Alison Flehr and Dr Phuong Do (La Trobe University).
