Data for Decisions

Discover how your de-identified data is driving research and shaping clinical practice in our inaugural interactive flipbook!

If you are one of the many general practices that contribute your EMR data to the Data for Decisions research initiative, we would like to say a big THANK YOU! This data is used by researchers right across Australia with the aim of developing interventions or tools that can help GPs and patients make informed decisions about optimising their health.

Find out what research your data has contributed to - check out the interactive 2024 D4D Report below.

To make sure our practice records stay up-to-date, please remember to notify us if your contact details have changed or if there has been a change in practice ownership.

Did you know?

Patron data was recently used by the International Consortium of Primary Care Big Data Researchers (INTRePID) to investigate why people visited primary care between 2018-2021.

The study looked at primary care visits in Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Peru, Norway, Singapore, Sweden and the USA and was able to compare pre and post-pandemic data. They found:

  • Diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and general health were the top 10 reasons for visits in 2019 across all countries.
  • General health remained in the top 10 for in-person visits for most countries in 2020 with COVID19 quickly dominating the field for both in-person and virtual visits.
  • Anxiety, depression and other mental health reasons moved into the top 10 reasons for virtual visits in all countries with virtual care.

This study was published in PLOS Global Public Health in August 2024.  You can read more about the project here.

Once again, without your dedication to research and ongoing data contributions, this study would not have been possible. Thank you!
