SAFE contributes to many and various international conferences

Prof Kelsey Hegarty participated in recent international conferences on Domestic Violence.

Professor Kelsey Hegarty participated in several international conferences on Domestic Violence, the first being the Sexual Violence Research Initiative Forum (SVRI) in Rio de Janeiro in September, where she presented: ‘e-Safe relationships: Development and evaluation of a suite of technological tools for partner violence.’

She also pitched Laura Tarzia’s work, ‘Shipwrecked on an island: women’s experiences accessing health services when they have experienced both sexual violence and mental health problems.’

Kelsey was also the moderator for the panel discussion, ‘A National Whole-of-Government approach to preventing violence against women: Lessons from the Australian experience.’

While attending the National Conference on Health and Domestic Violence in San Francisco, Kelsey presented Elizabeth McLindon’s work titled ‘Identifying the effect of domestic and family violence: personal experience on a health professionals’ clinical practice with victimised patients, and exploring the role of the healthcare workplace.’

Kelsey then headed to Ottawa in Canada to attend the Violence Prevention Alliance Annual Meeting (PreVAiL) with the theme ‘Translating Sustainable Development Goal violence prevention targets into national and local action.’ She will also attend the World Health Organisation’s 8th Milestones of a Global Campaign for Violence Prevention Meeting.
