Welcome message from Head of Department

Welcome to the final Department of General Practice Newsletter for 2017.

In this edition, we are delighted to announce new research partnerships in child and adolescent health, introduce new staff members, and share updates on international conference contributions from our Abuse and Violence research team.

Also, it is with a mixture of both pleasure and sadness that I share news that I am stepping down from my role of Head of Department of General Practice, which I have enjoyed for the past nine years, to take up my new appointment as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences which I will formally commence in January 2018. I am delighted to announce that Associate Professor Lena Sanci will commence as Interim Head of Department of General Practice from the new year. Lena is the Director of Learning and Teaching within the Department, as well as an accomplished academic and general practitioner, whose research provides considerable insight into the area of children and young people’s health. I look forward to ongoing collaboration in the new year as I retain my role as Chair of Primary Care Research in the Department of General Practice.

I wish you a safe and happy holiday season on behalf of the Department, and would like to thank you for your collaboration in our teaching and research activities in 2017.
