Welcome from Head of Department

Dear Colleagues,

This will be the final edition of our newsletter for 2018 and it is a bumper issue with lots of achievements to celebrate. We are late this year as we were waiting to announce to you all that I have formally been appointed as the new Head of General Practice and Chair of General Practice at The University of Melbourne. It is a great honour to be following in the giant shoes left by both Professor Doris Young and Professor Jane Gunn before me. I look forward to working with you all to advance the health of the community through primary care teaching and research.

I am also delighted to announce that our Deputy Head of Department will be Professor Meredith Temple-Smith, who is our Director of Research Training and has been with our Department for over ten years.

In this issue we celebrate the academic promotion of staff, awards and grants and conferences attended. Another year of GP teaching and examinations have also drawn to a close and we would like to thank all the general practices involved.

Above all I would like to wish you all a happy and safe festive holiday season and thank you for working alongside us in 2018.
