SDoH Models
The model was created in collaboration with the Wurundjeri community to acknowledge and pay respect to the land that Melbourne University and many of the clinical schools are based upon as well as their Elders and community.
Six Layers of Country
The model comprises of 6 layers of country: Biik Ut (below country), Biik Dui (land country), Baanj (water country), Murnmut (wind country), Wurru Wurru (sky country) and Tharangalk (above the clouds- Bunjil’s home). This represents the significance of connection to Country for health and wellbeing for First Nations peoples and acknowledges the importance of language and storytelling.
