Getting Started with a PhD Journey in Medical or Health Professions Education

On November 30, the Department of Medical Education held a follow up to our August 2023 ‘Thinking About Doing a PhD in Medical Education’ event. The event was well attended with 16 attendees (11 in person and five on Zoom). The discussion built on the conversations that were started in the August 2023 event with the panellists (Dr. Damian Castanelli [PhD 2022], Dr. Louise Allen [PhD 2020], Julia Paxino [PhD Candidate], and Prof. Walter Eppich [Maastricht PhD]) talking to their experience of finding supervisors, refining their research topic and questions, as well as preparing for and applying for a PhD. This provided a jumping off point for questions from the audience and a lively discussion, followed by networking at University House.
