Title: Professional Bereavement: Understanding Health Professionals' Responses to Patient Death
Presenter: A/Prof. Elsa Chen (University of Melbourne)
Overview: Patient death is a routine yet emotionally significant part of healthcare practice, yet how professionals experience patient loss and how students anticipate future professional loss remain poorly understood. Drawing on a decade of research, this presentation examines professional bereavement and discusses implications for wellbeing, professional development, and health professions education.

Title: Impostor Phenomenon in Health Professions Students
Presenter: Isha Hariname (University of Melbourne)
Overview: This session will provide an overview of three PhD studies on impostor phenomenon (IP) among health professions students. IP is common in this population and can be particularly pronounced during clinical placements and examinations. Despite its prevalence, little is known about how best to support students experiencing these feelings. Often referred to as impostor syndrome, IP has traditionally been viewed as an individual deficit or psychological disorder. This session will present IP as a nuanced experience that can have both negative and positive outcomes, drawing on the lived experiences of health professions students and discuss ways to support students in navigating impostor feelings.

Title: Choosing tomorrow's rural doctors: An analysis of medical student selection in an Australian rural context
Presenter: A/Prof Lyndal Parker-Newlyn (University of Wollongong)
Overview: This session will provide an overview of my doctoral research examining medical student selection in an Australian rural context. It will explore the evidence underpinning commonly used selection tools, the challenges of identifying applicants most likely to thrive in rural medical programs, and the implications of selection policy for developing the future rural medical workforce.

Overview: The Showcase provides a supportive forum to build and strengthen the growing community of health professions education researchers. If you are engaged in health professions education, research and/or practice, you are very welcome to attend and join in the virtual conversations about scholarship in the field of health professions clinical education.
