Overview
Clinicians utilise a vast array of diagnostic tools and techniques to help in cancer diagnosis. Over the last few decades, there has been an accelerated progress in novel diagnostic tools that have revolutionised our approaches to accurate, efficient and cost-effective cancer diagnosis. In this subject, students will learn about some of the most exciting advances in cancer diagnostics, from cutting-edge molecular techniques to artificial intelligence, using simulated approach with clinical scenarios and real-life examples to demonstrate the utility of these techniques.
Dates and Times
All MD Discovery 3 topics will be held during a 4-week block to be determined based on topic selection and clinical school availability.
Teaching and Learning
The course is suitable for both rural and metropolitan students. Synchronous teaching sessions will be online to permit equitable access for students regardless of location. Placements details are being developed currently. They will likely involve attendance one day a week for two of the topic weeks. Placements will be available in metropolitan Melbourne and if possible, in other centres (to be confirmed).
