Professor Susan Walker, Head of Department
The University Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health is responsible for teaching Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatal Paediatrics, to undergraduate medical students.
Our People
Our team includes clinical academics, research fellows, honoraries, research assistants and other research support personnel, administrative personnel, and teaching staff associated with the various teaching hospitals involved in the delivery of the Department's graduate teaching programme.

OGN Executive Committee
The Department of OGN Executive Committee has oversight of all of the Department's activities. It serves as a forum for high level decision-making and advice to the Head of Department and Deputy Heads of Department on strategic issues to support the Department’s development, performance and use of resources.

The Elephant Circle
The Dept of OGN Elephant Circle is established as a support group to whom department staff and students can go to for guidance about how to deal with challenges in workplace behaviours that they may witness or be subject to. The Elephant Circle consists of Department members of all career stages, disciplines, and genders.

History
The origins of the University of Melbourne Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology can be traced back to 1924, when the Victorian Branch of the British Medical Association appointed a committee under Dr J W Dunbar Hooper "to enquire into the condition of midwifery work" in Victoria.
