Elephant Circle - Fireside Chat

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Newborn Health hosted the inaugural Fireside Chat event on Thursday 17 August 2023 at the Royal Women’s Hospital.

The Fireside Chat was organised by Honorary Research Fellow Dr Emerson Keenan and hosted by Elephant Circle Chair, Mandy Lobley and was a candid discussion about dealing with professional failure and rejection with Prof Tu’uhevaha Kaitu’u-Lino, A/Prof Stefan Kane and PhD candidate Alexandra Roddy-Mitchell.

It was a very special afternoon with vulnerability and mutual respect on display from both junior and senior staff members speaking about the challenges they face navigating the research career path. One attendee described the event as “a meaningful initiative to help foster the culture we want for our department”.
