Sarah van der Hock - MDSC Poster Presentation Winner

Congratulations to Sarah van der Hock for winning first place in the MD Research Poster Presentations at the University of Melbourne MD Student Conference.

Sarah won the award for outstanding research presentation, presented by the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, for her poster: 'Fostering the future': a narrative review exploring barriers and enablers to doctors pursuing a medical educator pathway in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Sarah's research was supervised by Dr Edwina Coghlan and Dr Naomi Holbeach.

Jack Duckett - ANZAHPE Presentation

Jack Duckett presented his project at the ANZAHPE (Australian & New Zealand Association for Health Professional Educators) 2024 conference in Adelaide. ​

Jack's project, “The use of gender-inclusive language in pre-registration medical and midwifery curricula in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom”.

Jack's paper was supervised by Dr Naomi Holbeach and Dr Edwina Coghlan.

Michael Barrese - Permezel Prize 2023

Congratulations to Michael Barrese, winner of the Michael Permezel Prize 2023.

The prize recognises outstanding achievement in research in Women’s Health within the MD course.

Michael compared state-wide COVID-19 infection rates, intensive care unit (ICU) admissions, and length of stay in hospitalised pregnant patients before and after widespread maternal vaccination coverage in his paper: 'Association between COVID-19 Population Vaccination Coverage and the Risk of Maternal Intensive Care Unit Admission: A Retrospective Analysis of 215,363 Victorian Hospital Admissions'.

Michael was supervised by Prof Lisa Hui and Dr Melvin Marzan.
