Thesis Title: Strategies for improved diagnoses and clinical management of individuals with Differences of Sex Development (DSD)

Thesis Summary:

Genetic diagnostic rates in differences of sex development (DSD) have not significantly increased despite advances in available genomic technology, so there are likely other genomic aetiologies that need to be considered. With a better understanding of the genetic aetiology as well as improved knowledge regarding clinical outcomes, the impact of a genetic diagnosis in DSD can be further understood. My thesis aimed to further explore the genetic aetiology of DSD through whole genome sequencing, evaluate clinical outcomes in a large cohort of individuals with DSD and gain further understanding of the clinical management approaches to DSD across Australasia, particularly in regards to the use of genetic testing.

Date awarded: 13th February 2026
