Thesis Title: Prioritising intermediate phenotypes underlying NCDs for measurement in large cohort studies

Thesis Summary: If cohorts effectively prioritise phenotypic measurement, today’s largest causes of disease burden could be prevented. Driven by non-communicable disease burden and intent of the GenV cohort, this thesis triangulates evidence gaps from three perspectives: (1) scoping review and synthesis of phenotype trajectories underlying NCDs; (2) scoping review of NCD-relevant phenotypes measured in large child cohorts; (3) two discrete choice experiments exploring parents’ priorities for preventing NCDs from childhood. Findings reveal systematic evidence gaps that cohorts, including GenV, should prioritise measuring.
