Research at the Department of Paediatrics
Centre for Health Analytics
The Centre for Health Analytics acts as a nucleus; to enable the use of data to improve patient care, operations, education and research across the Melbourne Children’s Campus. We help interpret data into meaning to ease difficult moments in young peoples’ lives.
Developmental Mental Health Research Group
The Developmental Mental Health Research Group explores a range of topics related to brain development and mental health across the lifespan, with a focus on childhood and adolescence.
Envisage
Envisage is a program co-created by Australian and Canadian researchers, clinicians, and most importantly parents of children with developmental concerns and disabilities. Our mission is to empower caregivers like you to feel confident and competent to navigate the experience of parenting a child or children with developmental concerns by embracing contemporary strengths-based ideas about health, wellbeing, and development.
Infant Mental Health
The Infant Mental Health group is focused on understanding the connection and impact of early life stress on the mental health of infants, young children and their families. We investigate how serious illness, hospital experiences, significant family stress, and social disadvantage affect infants and toddlers and the parent-child relationship and design psychosocial interventions to support optimal development.
Kidney Regeneration
Our vision is to develop new treatments for inherited and chronic kidney disease. Using human stem cells to recreate kidney tissue, we hope to model kidney disease, find new therapies, and eventually develop replacement organs.
Brain and Mitochondrial Research
The Brain and Mitochondrial Research Group is dedicated to improving the diagnosis and outcomes for children and families affected by rare inherited diseases, particularly those affecting the normal development and function of the brain and nerves.
