Clinical Elective Placements at The Royal Children’s Hospital Campus
For EXTERNAL Students
We offer clinical elective placements of 4 weeks duration for medical students from universities other than The University of Melbourne to undertake clinical electives at The Royal Children’s Hospital. We offer placements in a number of paediatric specialty medicine and surgery units.
Elective students are attached to a Royal Children’s Hospital clinical department for the duration of the placement. Students will be provided many opportunities to engage in clinical activities in relation to patient assessment and patient care. The University of Melbourne does not provide assessment or formal teaching sessions related to your approved elective placement. We offer elective placements for a maximum of 4 weeks only. We cannot guarantee that the clinical placement requested will always be available due to the large number of applications we receive, however we will endeavor to accommodate your first preference. We are unable to offer paediatric placements in the Emergency Department or General Medicine Department.
