Teaching As You Go

This short course, provides participants with opportunities to enhance their understanding of and expertise in clinical teaching, and to critically reflect on their own teaching practices. Participants will build on pre-existing experience and expertise in clinical education and expand their repertoire of teaching tools and strategies.

Consisting of one evening session, followed by a weekend day the course has been developed by the Department with a strong basis in educational theory.   The course comprises workshops that are practical with active learning strategies to cover skill teaching, feedback and tools for teaching on the job.  Each year approximately 40 clinicians, generally registrars, take part in this course.  The course often stimulates participants to further develop their experience in clinical education with a formal course or a teaching fellow position at the hospital.
