Meet Kranjol

What made you apply for the Doctor of Medicine (Rural Pathway) program?

I applied as I believed that rural pathway would provide me a platform to explore rural medicine. As early as first-year of medical school, I wanted to be exposed to learning contexts that allow better understanding of the unique needs of rural medicine. Especially, as I am inspired to continue to care for these communities and follow my dreams of working in rural Australia as a doctor.

What have been the highlights of the course so far?

The highlight of the year has been attending GP clinical placement. I was placed in Rochester, a small town near Echuca, that has gone through many community hardships following the aftermath of recent floods. The shining resilience of the people and the determination of the doctors to make sure they were not only there as a physician, but as a pillar of support, was truly inspiring.

What advice would you give to other students considering applying for the course?

Good medicine undoubtedly requires hard work, however, it becomes a little bit easier knowing that you have 29 other (students) shoulders to lean on. The facilities, the accommodation, and the academic staff are amazing. Most importantly, be willing to put trust in yourself and your abilities - believe in the hard work you have put in because it always pays off.
