Madeline came through to the Doctor of Medicine (Rural Pathway) through the Graduate Entry where she previously studied the Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Melbourne. Meet Madeline
Tell us about your journey into this program.
I came through the Graduate entry. I previously studied the Bachelor of Science followed by the post-grad Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Melbourne. On the weekends I work as a veterinarian at Wangaratta Vet Clinic - I love it there and it’s been a great way to get connected in the community!
What made you apply for the Doctor of Medicine (Rural Pathway) program?
I wanted to study rurally because I want to work rurally. In my previous degree, doing rural placements in places I would potentially work was very advantageous.
What have been the highlights of the course so far?
Getting hands-on in clinical placements (rural hospitals and GPs are the best for this!)
What advice would you give to other students considering applying for the course?
The Rural Pathway allows for a more tight-knit and supportive group (peers and staff included) so be prepared to get your hands dirty, you get back what you put in.
