2025 Joint Western and Northern Precinct Surgical Skills Day

Department of Surgery Western Precinct in collaboration with Northern Precinct and SSSM hosted an advanced surgical skills workshop at Sunshine Hospital Western Health on Friday 4th April 2025.

28 medical students registered to attend allowing them to access a 14 hour Pathway to career progression online professional development course as well as access to experienced mentors.

Skills stations included orthopaedic bone fixation, urology top tips, vascular ultrasound practice usage, management of VAC dressing as well as laparoscopic and surgical suturing.

This was followed by a short course on trauma management and surgical radiology.
