Students in Sustainable Healthcare
The Department of Surgery in collaboration with the Climate CATCH Lab, University of Melbourne co-hosted this year's student sustainability event at Melbourne Connect.
Professor Eugenie Kayak the Key Note speaker presented her thoughts on the future of medicine and responsibilities of clinicians for our environment. This was followed by presentations from 12 teams of students on topics including reduction of theatre waste, alternatives to sterile water in colonoscopies as well as looking at gown and theatre cap utilisation. An excellent evening showcasing the work in surgery to help reduce its environmental impact.

Many thanks to Dr Ben Dunne, Dr Rebecca Patrick, Mr Armand Gumera and Professor Justin Yeung for championing the event.
