New group to support positive workplace culture

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is pleased to announce its newly established Elephant Circle initiative, a support group with whom department staff and students can seek advice about addressing unacceptable workplace behaviour that they may witness or be subject to.

The Elephant Circle will help to cultivate a fair and respectful workplace.

The Elephant Circle consists of a diverse group of Department members of all career stages, disciplines, and genders, who will receive additional peer-to-peer support training to help them call out inappropriate behaviour and provide a safe and equitable workplace.

The Elephant Circle was recently visited by a representative from the University’s Safer Community Program, in addition to having one of its own experts in genetic counselling, Mandy Lobley, speak to the group about listening blocks – things that prevent us from truly listening to the person across from them – while drawing great examples from popular Disney movies.

More information can be found on our website, along with photos of our Elephant Circle members and Support staff.
