Professor Cassandra Szoeke launches new book ‘Secrets of Women’s Healthy Ageing'

Professor Cassandra Szoeke from the Department of Medicine at the Royal Melbourne Hospital has recently completed a tour of Victoria and Tasmania to publicise her new book, Secrets of Women’s Healthy Ageing, published by Melbourne University Press.

During the tour, she spoke to various groups about how they can age more healthily – the recommendations being based upon her research over the past twenty years and the Women’s Healthy Ageing Project.

Professor Szoeke is the Director of the Healthy Ageing Program at the University of Melbourne and Principal Investigator of one of the longest ongoing studies of women’s health worldwide. She has published nearly 200 papers, including many in the Lancet and Lancet Neurology on healthy ageing in women. She is a specialist physician and a neurologist who trained at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and who undertook a PhD in epidemiological studies and post-doctoral studies at Stanford University. She is a former board member at Western Health.
